The Door-to-Door Meat Salesman

Would you buy chicken from a strange man at your door? Is door-to-door meat selling even legal?

He randomly stopped today and asked me if I wanted to buy some meat. The woman next door had ordered it and wasn't home, and we would sell it to me "real cheap."

hmmm. Do I want meat that is "real cheap?" Where I come from, "real cheap" meat is tuna fish. Yet somehow I had the image of him opening up a trench coat to reveal cold cuts hanging from the loops sewn inside.

He was clearly upset that I wasn't interested in his dubious goods. I was clearly upset that my children had opened the door for the meatmonger. We're definitely going to have to have a discussion about door screening tactics. You always know the houses where this discussion has taken place. You ring the doorbell and three small children peer at you through the blinds while they yell, "Mom!!" You wave. They run away. Very stealthy, small ones. I hardly even noticed you.
