Dear Everyone Else -
I think I might have an addiction. I received the following email and sent it on to many of you (because sharing the addiction is half the fun):
As many of you know, shopping at big people Gap holds little to no interest to me, especially now when I am the size of the Goodyear blimp, and the clothes are created for a size-2 supermodel (the fat ones). BUT, as many of you also know, I LOVE GapKids and BabyGap. Shopping for my kids is the greatest. They look fabulous in everthing. They appreciate everything they get. You can buy cute shirts for $6.99. You can buy cute shirts for 30% off of $6.99 with this coupon. (I think I'm salivating a bit) When I moved here, I actually shed a tear when I walked into the mall and GapKids had closed. I still shudder to think of it. Besides, shopping this weekend is actually helpful for charity - 5% of the money I spend goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
So, is the addiction so deep that I am willing to drive to the nearest GapKids? It is only 55 miles away. If I buy one pair of jeans, I have saved enough money to pay for the gas for the trip. Sean, being the practical type and the voice of reason, scoffs at my addiction. "We can get the kids clothes here," he treacherously suggests, "besides, it is a long drive and its supposed to snow." But I feel kind of like Mr. Stork in Dumbo -
Through the snow and sleet and hail...
through the blizzard, through the gale...
through the wind and through the rain...
over mountain, over plain...
through the blinding lightning flash...
and the mighty thunder crash...
ever faithful, ever true...
nothing stops her.
She'll get through.
Is it worth the drive? (Have I mentioned that Anna's torso is so long that she can't wear shirts from most other stores?) Am I afraid of a little inclement weather? Should I take a wrong turn and report that I didn't realize where I was headed until I saw the neon "GapKids" lights?
Help!
